Celebrating the remarkable life Of Consuelo (Chelito) Blancarte, who graced this world on February 7, 1923, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila Mexico, and departed on October 24, 2026. She was the eldest daughter born to Gertrudis and Miguel Sanchez. Consuelo was a beloved soul whose life was a testament to resilience, love, and grace. Her journey took her from teaching in Piedras Negras, Mexico to Eagle Pass where she and her husband raised a loving family. She cultivated not only a family but a garden of memories and beauty. Her later years were spent in San Antonio, Texas. Consuelo`s love for flowers and gardening was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and her dedication to her family, church and community.
Consuelo was the cherished widow of Luis Blancarte, and is survived by her daughters, Ana (Andy) Gravin, Hilda (David) Trevino, and Griselda (DeVon) Colvin, who carry forward her legacy of strength and love. She was grandmother to Daniel Trevino and Gentry Colvin, and great-grandmother to Daemon Trevino. A matriarch in every sense, Consuelo`s life was enriched by the love of her sons-in-law, Andy, David, and DeVon. Her nephews and nieces admired her wisdom, felt her warmth and support, and affectionately called her ``Tia Chelo``.
Her life was a tapestry of moments sewn with love, laughter, and the occasional dirt under her fingernails from tending to her beloved garden. Chelito's spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew her, and her memory will be a perennial source of inspiration. As we gather to honor her life, we keep in mind that she honored her own parents by living life with the principles practiced at home: a strong sense of ethics, respect for all others regardless of their stance in life, and dedication to family and community. Friends and family are encouraged to share their cherished memories and upload photos to her memorial page, celebrating the extraordinary life of a woman who believed in the promise of tomorrow.
