Elizabeth Alvarez

Elizabeth Alvarez Macias was born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to Jovita De La Cruz de Macias and Vicente Macias. She was one of five siblings. In her hometown, she was affectionately known as “La Consentida del Norte,” Chavela Macias, and was recognized for her remarkable talent as a singer. She performed alongside several notable artists, including Angel Infante “Santos”, brother of the legendary Pedro Infante.
Elizabeth possessed a profound love for mariachi music, and her voice had the rare ability to move listeners to tears. Out of devotion and obedience to her mother, she chose not to pursue a professional music career and instead dedicated her life to her husband and family. She was also gifted with skilled hands and a creative spirit, finding great joy in sewing, and teaching. Above all, she held a deep love for the gospel, which guided her life, strengthened her faith, and served as a constant source of strength and purpose.
At the age of 33, Elizabeth immigrated to the United States with her husband and four children. Together with her beloved husband, B. Miguel Alvarez, she built a warm and loving home that stood as a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Together, they raised seven children: Siria, Amulek, Dalila, Shunka, Sinai, Betsabe, and Abinadi.
Elizabeth’s greatest joy was her family, especially her 28 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, for whom she held an immeasurable and special love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her music will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
