The world is a little less bright today as we mourn the loss of a beloved patriarch, Fermin Sanchez, who passed away on January 12, 2026. Born on October 11, 1924, in Nava, Coahuila, Mexico, Fermin's life was a testament to resilience, hard work, and the power of family. A wise man once said, "The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit." Fermin lived by this creed, planting seeds of love, strength, and wisdom that have grown into a magnificent family tree, providing shelter and guidance for generations. Fermin was a man of the earth, his heart beat in rhythm with the land he worked. As a foreman in the cotton fields, he dedicated his life to working under the open sky, nurturing the soil, and reaping the fruits of his labor. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his unending love for his family. His ranch lifestyle was not just a career, but a way of life that he passed on to his children and grandchildren, instilling in them the values of dedication, resilience, and the simple joy of a day's hard work. Fermin's legacy lives on in his large, loving family. He was a doting grandfather to 67 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, and 46 great-great Grandchildren, each one carrying a piece of his spirit within them. He is survived by his children Romelia Siller, Noelia Parra, Aracely Frausto, Maria Pena, Eleazar Sanchez, Fermin Sanchez, Cesar Sanchez, and Veronica Sanchez. He is preceded in death by his parents Alejo Sanchez and Roumalda De Hoyos, his sons Jose Maria and Sergio Sanchez, and his beloved wife Enedina Sanchez.
