Eagle Pass, Texas
In the words of Norman Cousins, "The greatest gift in life is to be remembered." Julia Cortinas, born February 17, 1936, in Eagle Pass, Texas, has indeed left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. With her infectious laughter, her nurturing spirit, and her unwavering love for her family, Julia lived a full and beautiful life. She was a beacon of light in every room she entered and a source of strength for her loved ones during trying times.
Julia, a lifelong resident of Eagle Pass, was a loving mother to her children, Rosanna Moreno and Juan Cortinas, and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She bore the sweet title of "Grandma" with grace and pride, showering her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with affection and wisdom. Julia's love also extended to her son-in-law, Francisco A. Moreno and daughter-in-law, Edna Cortinas, who will greatly miss her. Her nurturing spirit was evident not only in the love she had for her family but also in her passion for gardening. Just as she tended to her plants with care and diligence, she nurtured her family and friendships with the same love and attention.
Julia is preceded in death by her parents, Juan Garcia and Victoria Castillo, her sons Ricardo and Mario A Cortinas, and her beloved husband, Gustavo A Cortinas as well as her sister,Ana Maria Gamez. As we mourn the loss of a life so beautifully lived, we also celebrate the impact she made on all those who knew her. Julia's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones. As the English novelist Terry Pratchett once said, "No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away."
