Eagle Pass, Texas
It is with profound sorrow and a sense of deep loss, we announce the peaceful passing of Maria de los Angeles Lopez on September 21, 2026. Born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico on October 1, 1949, Maria de los Angeles was a woman of resilience, grace, and unyielding love. As the famous Mexican writer Octavio Paz once said, "Deserve your dream," and Maria generously fulfilled this with her unwavering dedication to her family and her community in Eagle Pass, Texas, where she resided.
Maria de los Angeles was a beacon of love and strength for her family. She was widowed by her beloved husband Mario Lopez, and her parents, Florencio Andrade and Rosa Ovalle, preceded her in death. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in her children; Miguel, Maribel, Nancy, and Mario. Just as the sunflowers turn their heads to catch every sunbeam, so too have Maria's children seen her as their sun, their source of warmth and nurturing love. Her memory will forever remain etched in their hearts and minds, and her guiding light will continue to illuminate their paths.
Maria de los Angeles's life will be celebrated and her memory honored at the Memorial Funeral Chapels - Eagle Pass on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 2:00pm CDT, followed by a Rosary at the same venue at 6:00pm CDT. The viewing will continue on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 9:00am CDT. A Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Mission at 2:00pm CDT, followed by a burial at Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery at 3:00pm CDT.
In the words of Mexican poet Amado Nervo, "Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep." Maria de los Angeles may not physically be with us, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. To honor her life and share in her memory, we invite you to leave your cherished memories and upload photos of Maria de los Angeles on her memorial page. Let's celebrate her life and the love she bestowed on us, for she has truly taught us the essence of living - to love and be loved.
