It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Maria de Jesus Martinez, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us on August 2, 2026, at the age of 95. Known for her unwavering strength, boundless compassion, and contagious laughter, Maria was a beacon of light in our lives. Born in Múzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico, on February 4th, 1931, Maria carried the warmth, resilience, and vibrant culture of her homeland throughout her life. Her spirit was as strong as the land she came from and, as the Spanish saying goes, "De donde hay fuego, sale humo" – where there is fire, there is smoke.
Maria de Jesus was the heart and soul of her family, providing a nurturing environment in which her children could grow and thrive. She instilled in them a profound respect for their heritage, an insatiable thirst for knowledge, and a deep compassion for others. Maria de Jesus is now reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Ramiro Martinez, and her parents, Juan and Rosa Rivera. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in her children: Minerva Martinez, Ramiro Jr., Roberto Martinez, and Graciela Leyva. She also had a special place in her heart for her 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit, a testament to her impact and the love she shared.
