Reginaldo Galan Obituary (1926 - 2026)

Reginaldo Galan, a native of Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, and a longtime resident of Maxwell, Texas, passed away on April 20, 2026, just shy of his 100th birthday. Born on October 10, 1926, to parents Reginaldo Galan and Elisa Risa, Reginaldo led a life marked by a unique ebullience and singular strength of spirit. His was a life that beautifully echoed the words of Mexican writer Octavio Paz: "Love is an attempt to penetrate another being, but it can only be realized if the surrender is mutual." Reginaldo was a man of boundless curiosity and a deep-seated love for life's simple pleasures. Despite never having been formally employed, he was rich in experiences and stories that captivated all who had the privilege of his acquaintance. His days were marked by countless sunrises and sunsets, myriad walks in nature, and an unending fascination with the world around him. Reginaldo was a man who truly understood the words of the Spanish philosopher Jose Ortega y Gasset: "Love is that splendid triggering of human vitality... the supreme activity which nature affords anyone for going out of himself toward someone else." Reginaldo's vitality and love for life rubbed off on all who knew him, especially his beloved niece, Ana Cazares, who survives him. She was a constant companion and confidante to Reginaldo and will continue to carry his spirit within her. Reginaldo was preceded in death by his parents, Reginaldo Galan and Elisa Risa.
