Vickie Leija

Vickie Sanchez Leija, 85, of Eagle Pass, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 21, 2025. Born on January 20, 1940, she lived a life filled with kindness, humor, and deep devotion to her loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Luis Leija, her sons Paul Leija (Sylvia) and Joe Leija (Kim), her parents Alberto and Ofelia Sanchez, and her brothers Betito Sanchez and Rogelio Sanchez. The family finds comfort knowing she is reunited with them.

Vickie is survived by her two daughters, Vicky Dávila (David) and Diana Santoya, who were her greatest joys.

She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses:

Maria del Rosario Flores (Enrique)
Raul Sanchez (Emily)

She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose love reached through every generation of her family.

Vickie will be remembered as kind, loving, funny, and nurturing. She loved cooking for her family, tending her garden, watching her novelas, and doing her word search puzzles. Her home was always filled with warmth, food, and laughter — a true reflection of her heart.

Her legacy lives on in the family she raised, the traditions she passed down, and the love she gave so freely.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Memorial Funeral Chapels at 1705 Del Rio Boulevard, Eagle Pass, Texas, 78852. Viewing will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 2:00pm CST and Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 9:00am CST. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 6:00pm CST. A Mass in Vickie's honor will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2055 Williams Street, Eagle Pass, Texas, 78852, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11:00am CST.
